Todd Leatherman is a documentary cameraperson based in New York.

He is frequently credited as a cinematographer, assistant camera and camera operator on documentary films for networks, streamers, NGOs and artists. Inspired by the filmmaking techniques of classic and modern cinema, he is particularly focused on finding innovative ways of capturing truly cinematic images within the realistic scope of documentary productions. While he is naturally drawn to projects concerning political and social issues, he has experience filming a wide range of documentary genres in many corners of the globe.

Todd was a camera operator on The Notorious Mr. Bout, which delves into the seedy underworld of infamous Russian arms trafficker Viktor Bout. Directed by Tony Gerber and Maxim Pozdorovkin, it premiered in the World Cinema Documentary Competition at the Sundance Film Festival. Todd was an additional cinematographer on

Daughters of Destiny, a Netflix original series about a school in India aiming to break the cycle of poverty in a single generation. The series was directed by Academy Award winner Vanessa Roth and received the Emmy’s Television Academy Honors Award for Social Impact. On HBO's Who Killed Garrett Phillips?, a documentary series that examines the complex issues surrounding race in the American criminal justice system, Todd was an additional cinematographer. The series was directed by two-time Academy Award nominee and Emmy Award winner

Liz Garbus. Todd was an additional cinematographer on HBO's

Bully. Coward. Victim. The Story of Roy Cohn, about Donald Trump's infamous lawyer and longtime mentor. Directed by Ivy Meeropol,

the film was nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Historical Documentary. Todd was a camera operator on Showtime's

Kingdom of Silence, about the mysterious murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Kashoggi. Directed by Academy Award nominee Rick Rowley and executive produced by Academy Award winner Alex Gibney, the film won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Politics and Government Documentary. Todd was a camera operator on Mary J. Blige's My Life, as well as a National Geographic series about female empowerment titled Impact, which was produced by Gal Gadot. Both projects were directed by Academy Award winner Vanessa Roth.

Todd is also a frequent collaborator of the Shoah Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded by Steven Spielberg to record the visual testimonies of Holocaust survivors and ensure their accounts are preserved for generations to come. Todd is proud to have filmed many survivor testimonies over the course of his career.

Todd’s work has appeared on a variety of platforms including

HBO, Max, Netflix, Showtime, Apple TV, Disney+, AMC, Amazon, PBS, Hulu, Discovery+ and National Geographic. He is an FAA-licensed drone pilot and a graduate of the University of Maryland and the New York Film Academy. He lives along the Hudson River with his partner, Erica, and their beloved pup, Stella.
